Overhead Line (OHL) Site Manager – Cheshire
Various National Grid OHL projects within Cheshire and surrounding areas.Key Responsibilities
Lead the site team in all Overhead Line construction and maintenance activities.
Coordinate and manage OHL installation, refurbishment, or dismantling works, ensuring safe, timely, and budget-compliant execution.
Act as the main point of contact between site personnel, contractors, National Grid representatives, and project management.
Ensure compliance with National Grid specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Oversee site documentation including daily diaries, risk assessments, method statements, and permits.
Manage resources on site including plant, equipment, and workforce scheduling.
Report progress, issues, and resource requirements to the project manager.
Drive and maintain a strong culture of safety awareness and safe systems of work.Essential Qualifications & Certifications
National Grid Persons Ticket (OHL) – Must be in-date and valid to work on National Grid assets.
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent recognized site management qualification.
Full UK driving license.Experience & Skills Required
Proven track record managing OHL construction or maintenance sites, preferably on 132kV, 275kV, or 400kV lines.
Strong understanding of National Grid specifications, safety rules, and procedures (NSI 4, NSI 6, etc.).
Ability to manage subcontractors, direct workforce, and liaise effectively with stakeholders.
Excellent knowledge of health & safety requirements and environmental considerations in OHL work.
Confident communicator with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.Working Hours & Conditions
Primarily Monday–Friday, but flexibility required for weekend and night shifts depending on project needs.
Outdoor work in varied weather conditions (cue Cheshire rain).
Travel between sites within the region may be required.Salary & Package
