School Kitchen Cook Location: Millfields First School Hours: To be confirmed (Monday to Friday 24-30) Contract Type: Permanent / Term Time Only Job Summary: Millfields First School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Cook to join our friendly team. You will work alongside two Kitchen Assistants to ensure the smooth running of the school kitchen, providing nutritious and appealing meals for children aged 2 to 9 years. This role involves ordering ingredients, preparing and serving meals, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and cook balanced meals in accordance with school guidelines and dietary requirements. Serve meals to children in a timely and friendly manner. Work collaboratively with two Kitchen Assistants to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas. Order food and supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained and waste is minimized. Adhere to food safety regulations and allergy guidance. Ensure all meals meet nutritional standards appropriate for children aged 2–9. Complete daily cleaning routines and kitchen checks. Comply with all school policies and procedures, including safeguarding. Requirements: Relevant catering qualifications (e.g., Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent). Experience working in a school or similar catering environment is desirable. Knowledge of food allergies and dietary requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent time management and organizational skills. A positive and child-friendly attitude. Additional Information: This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
