About Us:

Based in Bromborough, Teledyne CML Composites is a fast growing manufacturer, supplying carbon/glass fibre composite parts and assemblies to some of the world’s leading aircraft and aero engine producers, including commercial, Defense and Business Jets.

The manufacturing facility houses some of the most advanced machining technology in Europe such as a multi axis NDT robotic machinery, automated material cutting machines and multi axis CNC machining centres. Teledyne CML Composites has positioned itself, and is recognised as one of the worlds leading suppliers in composites and supports the business strategy of continuous growth and technical innovation.

Job Purpose:

Working as the sites quality leader, this position is responsible for the management of all quality related functions across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Line management of the quality team, including inspection, compliance and engineers

2. Work closely with cross functional teams and ensure a culture of quality throughout the organisation

3. Creating and implementing quality standards to ensure that products meet customer expectations and regulatory compliance

4. Monitoring performance and compliance with quality standards, establishing KPI’s and reporting on same

5. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes

6. Recruit, support and develop quality control staff, ensuring they understand and apply quality procedures effectively

7. Lead compliance audits, internally and with relevant regulatory bodies to ensure that we maintain our accreditation

8. Adopt the Teledyne Business Operating System (BoS) to effectively and efficiently manage quality within our business

9. Ownership of the Quality Procedure Manual, company works procedures, contract reviews and quality management reviews

10. Play an active role in New Product Introduction (NPI)

11. Ensure all documentation is recorded and stored in line with company procedures & best practice.

12. Liaise with internal and external customers, including customer approvals

13. Ownership of stamps and scope of approvals. Working with the operations, engineering and quality teams.

14. Other duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

15. Excellent understanding and demonstrable experience of aerospace quality systems and audit procedures is required.

16. Efficient use of MSExcel/MSWord is required.

17. Ability to liaise with customers technical teams is required.

18. Demonstratable aptitude for organising and problem solving.

19. An understanding of composite materials is desirable.

20. General understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.

21. General understanding of Project Management principles and tools.

Safety

28. Ensure positive shopfloor disciplines and safe working practices are implemented and maintained through regular site monitoring.

29. Encourage staff to report near misses in order to prevent accidents.

30. Responsible for the wellbeing and health & safety of all production staff

31. Actively contributes to risk assessments, safety policies and safe working practices.

Quality

32. Ensure all staff follow the company Quality Manual and Works Procedures

33. Shopfloor compliance of Drawings, SOPs and Work Instructions

34. Promote a right first time approach and zero defect culture across the shopfloor

35. Work with Production Staff and other departments to quickly and effectively resolve issues using root cause analysis techniques.

Cost

36. Stock control of consumables and raw materials in the department

37. Drive shopfloor efficiencies

Delivery

38. Define and manage Quality capacity.

39. Achieve the Production Schedule.

40. Manage priorities to support customer deliveries and financial targets.

People

41. Maintain Staff Training Records, Stamp Categories and Skills Matrix

42. Manage and set targets for supervisors

43. Motivate and encourage teams to achieve company targets

44. Manage Sickness & Absence and Time and Attendance in conjunction with HR to meet business expectations and targets

45. Carry out Return to Work interviews

46. Recruit staff as required in conjunction with HR

47. Support staff development through identification of skill gaps and promote multiskilling

48. Coach operators in driving performances and operational and technical excellence

49. Manage diciplinary and grievance processes when required

Continuous Improvement

50. Develop 5S/Lean processes throughout the Production Area.

51. Manage, implement and support CI projects with MRP data analysis

52. To ensure regular cleaning, equipment checks and TPM is completed.

Collaboration

53. Provide key Production inputs to business planning meetings to support financial targets.

54. Liaise with relevant departments as required.

55. Actively participates in projects to achieve company goals and implement solutions.

56. Contribute to and attend business meetings and manage associated actions.
