We are looking for 2 passionate and skilled part time cooks to join our friendly small Care Home team to deliver nutritious, delicious meals that enhance the wellbeing of our 20 residents. This is a very flexible role which can be worked as either a morning shift, an afternoon shift or a long day as a split shift.
Job Overview:
As a Cook at Inwood House, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking the lunch and evening meals for our residents, ensuring their dietary needs and preferences are met. You will work closely with the care team to ensure that meals are not only tasty and satisfying, but also nutritious and tailored to the health requirements of each resident.
Duties:
Meal Preparation & Cooking: Prepare, cook, and serve meals to residents in accordance with their dietary requirements, preferences, and any special health considerations (e.g., low-salt, gluten-free, diabetic).
Food Safety & Hygiene: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in line with regulatory requirements. Ensure proper food storage, handling, and preparation practices are followed at all times.
Dietary Requirements and Nutrition: Work closely with residents and care staff to accommodate specific dietary needs and restrictions, such as allergies or cultural preferences. Ensure meals are nutritionally balanced and adjust meal plans based on individual health assessments.
Teamwork & Communication: Collaborate with the care team to address any changes in residents' health or dietary needs, and provide input on meal preferences and improvements. Work with the kitchen team to maintain a clean and organised work environment.
Stock Management: Assist with ordering food and maintaining stock levels, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and minimising waste.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Cook, ideally with experience in a care home or healthcare setting.
Knowledge of special dietary needs, food allergies, and nutrition for the elderly.
A passion for cooking and creating meals that are both delicious and nutritious.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
A good understanding of food hygiene standards and regulations.
A caring and compassionate approach to working with elderly residents.
Hours:
This is an unusually flexible role where you could work a morning shift, 8am to 1pm. An afternoon shift, 2.30pm to 6.30pm or both (all day as split shift). Days per week can be negotiated at interview.
Job Types: Permanent, Part-time
Pay: £12.21-£13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 30 per week
