Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health & Safety Manager to oversee the implementation and management of health and safety policies within our organisation. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe working environment for all employees while complying with relevant legislation and industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to risk management with previous working at height experience.
Positioned between the shareholding directors and working supervisors, this role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and management, with a direct reporting line to the Directors.
This position will require travel to and from various site locations within a 90-minute radius from Milton Keynes.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Mobilisation
* Review project documentation
* – Review specifications and client requirements, produce risk assessment & method statements, and review / produce programme of works
* Site setup
– Oversee establishment of site offices, welfare facilities, security, and access controls
* Resource planning
– Coordinate labour, plant, and material deliveries to align with the project programme- Undertake pre-works surveys identifying existing condition and recommendations for repairs- Produce cutting lists for material suppliers- These will be prepared using SiteCam software provided2. Day-to-Day Site Management
* Surveys
* Programme adherence
* – Monitor daily progress against the master programme; adjust priorities to mitigate delays
* Supervision of works
– Allocate tasks to foremen and supervisors; ensure teams understand objectives and deadlines
* Quality control
– Enforce workmanship standards, review inspections and test reports, and manage snagging3. Health & Safety
* Site safety leadership
* – Chair toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings– Ensure up-to-date risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and permit-to-work systems
* Site specific compliance
– Ensure compliance with client or site specific health & safety requirements, i.e. no banned equipment is being used on site and high risk activities such as cutting are done at an approved cutting station.
* Accreditations
– Ensure operatives hold relevant health & safety certification, these are maintained and kept up to date (CSCS, manual handling, working at height, asbestos awareness etc)- Supporting the business to obtain health & safety accreditations (ConstructionLine Gold, NFRC, CHAS etc.)
4. Team & Subcontractor Management
* Personnel leadership
* – Oversee and supervise site staff across multiple sites; manage performance and conduct of operatives on site- Responsible for middle management duties between directors and site supervisory staff across multiple sites
* Subcontractor coordination
– Oversee subcontractor selection, on-boarding / inductions, and daily supervision– Ensure subcontractors meet safety, quality, and programme requirements
5. Director Communication
* Client and consultant liaison
* – Host regular site progress meetings and walkthroughs– Escalate issues early and propose solutions
* Internal reporting
– Provide weekly/monthly progress reports to project management and headquarters– Highlight key risks, delays, and cost impacts6. Materials Management
* Material logistics
* – Approve purchase requisitions; manage deliveries, storage, and inventory of materials on site
* Plant and equipment oversight
– Coordinate plant and access equipment with relevant parties to ensure alignment with programme requirements7. Risk Management & Issue Resolution
* Proactive identification
* – Conduct site audits and walkthroughs to surface hazards or programme conflicts
* Corrective actions
– Implement mitigation plans for delays, defects, or safety breaches
* Dispute avoidance
– Facilitate on-site problem-solving with all parties to prevent escalation8. Handover & Close-Out
* Defects rectification
* – Manage punch-list completion and final inspections
* Documentation
– Compile completion reports, warranties, and certificates where relevant– Coordinate formal handover, snagging resolution, and final sign-off
* Client handover

Pay: £40,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
