Key Responsibilities
1. Business Partnering
* Provides a full HR business partnering service to all key stakeholders across the full employee lifecycle, drawing support from the centres of excellence within the wider HR function.
* Ensures legal compliance and that processes/systems are in place across all HR areas.
* Works closely with all People Leaders, providing coaching and support to ensure competence and capability in HR practices.
1. Learning, Development, Resourcing, and Talent Management
* Identifies training needs of People Leaders and coaches/guides to enhance their HR capabilities.
* Works with People Leaders to recruit and appoint using fair, systematic processes aligned with company procedures.
* Ensures People Managers are competent to conduct interviews, including disciplinary, redundancy, and investigation interviews.
* Collaborates with Departmental Managers on talent identification and succession planning, ensuring reviews are in line with procedures.
* Works with L&D colleagues to address local learning and development needs.
2. Organisation Development and Design
* Advises People Leaders on job design, criteria, and organizational changes.
* Supports delivery of communication and engagement activities tailored to local needs.
* Provides guidance on legal and process aspects of change initiatives, such as process changes, restructuring, and redundancies.
* Leads site ethical audits, coordinating activities and ensuring compliance.
* Manages employee opinion surveys and supports communication and action planning.
* Oversees service providers (e.g., cleaners).
* Implements talent management processes for succession and capability planning.
3. Employee and Industrial Relations
* Leads day-to-day union activities.
* Coaches and partners with People Leaders on sensitive issues like disciplinary actions, grievances, and performance management.
* Advises on employment relations policies and practices.
* Works with Occupational Health to manage absences per policies.
* Ensures HR materials are current and accessible (handbooks, contracts, intranet).
* Uses KPIs to inform managers and identify improvement opportunities.
4. Payroll
* Processes payroll changes accurately via Workday and liaises with Payroll Co-ordinator.
* Supports automation and system improvements to reduce manual work.
* Collaborates with UK HR Manager and managers on business and people plans.
* Develops project plans for major change initiatives, identifying risks and strategies.
5. Colleague Engagement & General HR Activities
* Leads the Site Engagement Team.
* Completes weekly and monthly HR reports.
* Supports UK-wide HR initiatives.
* Demonstrates result-driven, solution-focused approach.
* Possesses strong communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
* Resilient, able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
* Highly motivated, flexible, and influential.
6. Technical Competencies & Qualifications
* Experience as HR Advisor/Officer in fast-paced environments (Manufacturing, Logistics, Retail preferred).
* Ideally CIPD qualified or working towards it.
* Strong self-management, structured, and proactive.
* Proficient in digital HR systems (Workday, ADP) and MS Office.
Note: The role is site-based with one day of home working per week.
