The Move Imperial Department of the Property Division at Imperial is committed to providing sports facilities of the highest standard to staff, students and the wider community, to promoting sporting excellence and actively encouraging participation in physical activity across all levels, whilst improving inclusiveness and removing barriers to participation.

Based at the Harlington Sports Ground and reporting to the Grounds Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality maintenance and presentation of sports surfaces and facilities, supporting efficient resource management, and enhancing the user experience.


You will be involved in managing Direct Reports, overseeing health & safety compliance, managing operational budgets, and maximising the facility usage through external hire.

Additionally, you will deputise for the Grounds Manager, support event logistics, and contribute to the overall smooth operation of the grounds and associated services.

As a key team member, you will deliver exceptional customer service, fostering a positive atmosphere for students and private hirers alike.


1. Relevant industry recognised Qualification in Sports Grounds Management (NVQ3 or equivalent)
2. Tractor and Handheld Spraying Certificate
3. Hold a current Driving Licence
4. Experience working in a Sports Grounds Person or Supervisor role
5. Proven experience of managing people and teams
6. Knowledge of health & safety legislation within a Sports Grounds setting
7. A wide sporting background or knowledge of sports
8. Ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure
9. A high level of written and oral communication skills
10. Ability to work without supervision, using discretion and initiative
11. A friendly, helpful and tactful approach to users and service providers
12. A high level of physical fitness

The position is available on a full-time open-ended contract. Applicants must be willing to work at other locations, occasional evenings, and weekends (on a 5 out of 7-day contract).
