You’ll work closely with the Property Operations Manager and Senior Visitor Experience Officer and others in the operations team.You’ll be responsible for managing visitors, volunteers and contractors, as their chief contact on site, and for compliance, organising access and making sure our work systems are always safe.You’ll lead a small team at two coastal sites to create a culture of exceptional service and experience for our visitors, working with colleagues to ensure that events, programming, exhibitions and displays are of the highest standard. You’ll inspire and care for your team, encouraging them to give the highest standards of service and to help grow our charitable income. You’ll also ensure that all aspects of the property are well cared for and well- presented, contributing to the longer-term vision of your property. Day-to-day, you’ll identify and manage compliance and risk and take responsibility for ensuring that the actions of you and your team are safe, secure and compliant – particularly near water. You’ll use good judgement and decision-making to lead from the front, in line with National Trust guidelines and policies and work with colleagues across the portfolio, region and more widely to build constructive relationships. You’ll act as duty manager mainly at Orford Ness but also at Dunwich Heath, with specific responsibilities around health and safety and visitor operations. You’ll be the main point of contact for staff, volunteers and visitors in case of emergency, enquiries or complaints and be prepared to get stuck in to whatever needs doing, ensuring that visitor operations run smoothly throughout the peak of our visitor season. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.
