Catering Manager Directorate/School: Children, Families and Communities Grade: SC1, Spinal Column Point 2 (£24,413 pro-rata) Actual Salary: £5,669.10 per annum Hours: 10 hours a week (Monday to Friday - term time only) Line managed by: School Finance & Business Manager Contract: Permanent Purpose of Post The Catering Manager is responsible for the effective management, preparation, service, and supervision of school meals, ensuring high standards of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety at all times. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Operational Duties Receive and manage food deliveries prepared off-site by the external catering contractor. Prepare the lunch hall and kitchen areas for meal service. Serve meals to pupils in a safe, efficient, and welcoming manner. Carry out routine and deep cleaning of kitchen surfaces, equipment, lunch hall floor, and furniture. Complete and accurately record daily operational and food safety checks. Food Safety and Compliance Champion food safety standards in line with the Food Standards Agency’s Safer Food, Better Business guidance. Ensure full compliance with the school’s Health and Safety Policy and COSHH regulations in relation to food, equipment, materials, and general safety. Observe all relevant Health and Safety legislation, catering regulations, and County Council policies. Undertake regular risk assessments for the kitchen and lunch hall, reporting concerns to senior managers as required. Equipment and Facilities Management Ensure the safe operation of all kitchen equipment at all times. Report necessary repairs promptly and ensure that unsafe equipment is removed from use until repaired. Maintain all kitchen and dining areas in a clean, orderly, and hazard-free condition. Training and Development Participate in mandatory and role-specific training as required. Undertake training and development programmes identified by Senior Managers. Comply with policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding and Child Protection, confidentiality, and data protection, and report any concerns to the appropriate person. Maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene and appearance and wear the uniform provided at all times. General Duties Undertake any other duties, training, or reasonable adjustments to working hours as required, consistent with the level of responsibility of the post. Carry out health and safety duties commensurate with the role and in line with the Directorate’s Health and Safety Policy.
