Job Description
London – West End | Hybrid | Full-time
The Opportunity
Makor Group, a leading international financial services and trading group, is seeking an Employment Lawyer (2 – 6 years’ PQE) to join its London legal team, based in the heart of the West End.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact, senior-facing in-house role within a fast-moving, globally active financial services business, with a friendly, supportive and highly collaborative working environment.
You will work closely with senior management, HR leadership and the wider legal team on complex, high-value and often sensitive employment matters across the UK and internationally.
The role offers exceptional exposure, genuine autonomy, and the chance to shape employment strategy within a commercially driven, entrepreneurial organisation operating across multiple jurisdictions.
The Role
You will act as the primary employment law specialist for the Group, advising on the full spectrum of employment and workforce matters, including:
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating employment contracts, bonus arrangements and restrictive covenants
* Advising on senior hires, exits, restructurings, redundancies and performance management
* Managing and resolving employee relations issues, grievances, disciplinaries and whistleblowing matters
* Leading on contentious employment matters, including ACAS conciliation and Employment Tribunal claims (with external counsel where appropriate)
* Advising on business protection, post-termination restrictions and confidentiality issues
* Staying updated on employment law developments to ensure compliance and mitigate risks for the organisation
* Supporting corporate transactions and strategic projects from an employment perspective
* Developing and updating HR policies, procedures and governance frameworks
* Advising on regulatory, conduct and risk-related employment issues relevant to financial services
* Coordinating with international stakeholders on cross-border employment considerations
* Keeping the business ahead of employment law developments, ensuring pragmatic and compliant implementation
* While the role is primarily employment-focused, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to support the wider legal team on broader business-as-usual and commercial matters, reflecting the collaborative, in-house nature of the role.
About You
You will be a high-quality employment lawyer who combines technical excellence with commercial judgement:
* Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 2 – 6 years’ PQE specialising in employment law
* Strong grounding in UK employment law, including contentious and non-contentious matters
* Confident advising on senior executive and regulated employee issues
* Able to manage matters independently, with credibility at senior and board level
* Commercial, pragmatic and solutions-focused
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
* Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills
* Experience in financial services, trading, banking or a regulated environment is highly desirable (but not essential)
* Interest in operating within an international, multi-jurisdictional business
What’s on Offer
A visible in-house role within a globally active financial services group
* Direct access to senior stakeholders
* Exposure to complex, high-value and sensitive employment matters
* A collaborative, commercially minded legal team
* Competitive salary and benefits package
* Long-term career development within a growing international business
Applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.
