Roadside Recovery Operations Manager – Senior Leadership Opportunity
Westbourne Motors is a leading roadside rescue and vehicle recovery operator across Southern England. We work with major motoring organisations, police authorities, dealerships and fleet operators.
We are now recruiting an experienced Regional Area & Site Manager from the roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, breakdown or transport operations sector to lead a regional recovery operation and manage a busy recovery depot in Bristol.
This is a hands-on operational leadership role for someone who understands:
* Roadside breakdown and recovery operations
* Managing recovery drivers and patrol teams
* Complex vehicle recovery incidents
* Fleet and workshop management
* Performance KPIs and compliance standards
The Role – What You'll Be Responsible For
Roadside & Recovery Operations Management
* Direct management of roadside recovery drivers and technicians
* Coaching, performance management and KPI delivery
* Managing NAuto scores and safety standards
* Supporting and attending complex roadside recoveries
* Acting as Incident Manager when required
* Ensuring vehicles, plant and equipment meet company and legal standards
Depot & Workshop Management
* Full responsibility for regional recovery site operations
* Managing yard, workshop and fleet allocation
* Monitoring productivity, profitability and parts purchasing
* Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation
* Recruitment and management of depot-based staff
Performance & Compliance
* Delivering team performance targets
* Conducting inspections of vehicles and staff
* Maintaining operational, safety and presentation standards
* Reporting on KPIs and operational metrics
Salary & Benefits
£56,000 salary
Quarterly performance bonus
Working Pattern
* Monday to Friday – 07:30 to 18:00
* One rota day off per week (midweek)
* Every third weekend on-call (Friday 17:00 – Monday 07:00)
* Flexibility required for operational emergencies
About You
Essential Experience
* Proven management experience within the roadside rescue, breakdown, vehicle recovery or roadside assistance industry (or similar equivalent experience)
* Experience managing recovery drivers, patrol teams or field-based technicians (or similar equivalent experience)
* Strong knowledge of vehicle recovery operations and roadside incident management (or similar equivalent experience)
* Experience working to operational KPIs and performance targets
* Good understanding of Health & Safety within a transport or recovery environment (or similar equivalent experience)
Essential Skills
* Strong leadership and team development ability
* Confident decision-maker in high-pressure situations
* Commercial awareness and ability to manage operational costs
* Full UK driving licence (HGV an advantage)
This is a senior operational leadership position within a well-established recovery business. You will have real authority, autonomy and accountability for performance, safety and profitability within your region.
