School Cook Location: Rossendale, Lancashire Start Date: ASAP (ideally before half term) Contract: Temporary (length currently unknown) Hours: School hours, term time The Opportunity A welcoming primary school in Rossendale is seeking a qualified and experienced School Cook to support the preparation of healthy, nutritious meals for pupils, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of school food standards, allergen management, and safe food preparation within an educational setting. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook nutritious meals in line with School Food Standards Plan menus and manage food ordering Cater for special dietary requirements and allergens Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations Work effectively as part of a school team Essential Requirements NVQ / Diploma Level 2 or 3 in Food Preparation & Cooking Food Safety in Catering certificate (Level 2 or 3) Knowledge of allergen awareness and dietary needs Experience working in a school or similar setting Strong understanding of nutritional standards and H&S Desirable Attributes Passion for providing healthy, nutritious food for children Positive, flexible, and reliable approach Good communication and organisational skills Why Apply?
