Position Mission – key objectives

The company has developed the best cocoa substitute in the market. It provides the same flavour profile and texture / functionality as cocoa powder and mass, but at a lower price and 98% lower CO2 footprint. The key objective of this role is to develop sales of this product, particularly with smaller and mid-size companies with shorter sales cycle times, to give the company near-term sales growth.

This will require identifying and reaching out to target customers and participating at key industry events to develop market awareness. Then achieving conversion from sampling stages into live transactional sales and establishing long-term relationships and cross team collaboration with customers.

What you will do – key responsibilities

This hands-on role requires commercial initiative, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple sales and customer touchpoints. You’ll play a key part in turning early interest into recurring revenue, working closely with the Commercial Director and CEO.

Sales Development

·Proactively reach out to new leads across bakery, confectionery, and food manufacturing sectors

·Represent Fermtech at trade shows and industry events

·Track leads, follow-up, and manage sales funnel using CRM tools

Account Management

·Maintain regular contact with active customers and trial partners

·Coordinate product sample shipments and application testing

·Support with basic technical and commercial queries (working with R&D or leadership as needed)

Commercial Support

·Assist in preparing sales presentations and commercial proposals

·Support contract negotiation, pricing discussions, and onboarding documentation

·Collect and present customer feedback internally to inform product development

Operations & Process

·Maintain accurate CRM and customer records

·Support audit and QC documentation exchange as needed

·Contribute to team planning sessions and customer strategy meetings

What we are looking for
Required:

·Min 2 experience in sales or commercial support within food, ingredients, or food tech industries

·May suit someone from a Technical / NPD background looking for entry into a commercial function

·Comfortable communicating with technical, operations, and procurement contacts, including about product technical details, food safety and QC processes and standards

·Self-motivated and organised, able to nurture your own pipeline

·Ability to travel by road to visit customers

Desirable:

·Experience working in a start-up or small team environment

·Exposure to fermentation or sustainable food production

·Understanding of flavour systems, functional ingredients, or product development cycles

Other key details
* Time: Full-time employment
* Location: Company is based in Oxford, hybrid options available
* Travel: Regular national and occasional international travel will be expected. The company will reimburse travel expenses. Car and license will be preferential.
* Package: Base salary £30-35k + 20% incentive payments.
* Start date: Q4 2025
