The Role

Trust HR Manager

NJC Scale Point 41 to 45 (£50,788 to £54,839 per annum)

37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 52 weeks per year

We are offering an interesting opportunity for a skilled and motivatedHR professionalto lead our high-performing HR team. Joining us at a pivotal moment, you’ll play a central role in implementing the Trust’s first ever People Strategy—working closely with senior leaders to enhance the employee experience across all areas of the organisation.

Hatton Academies Trust is a thriving multi-academy trust based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, comprising one secondary academy and four primary academies. We aim to be a progressive, forward-thinking employer who puts its people first, recognising their significant contribution to the Trust's successful outcomes.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a proactive, empatheticHR Managerto shape and deliver transformational HR, with a strong focus on staff development, retention, and wellbeing.

About the Role

You will work closely with the CEO, Directors, and Principals, providing strategic and operational HR support across the Trust. Your role will be central to driving HR modernisation while maintaining our reputation for delivering a responsive, high-quality HR advisory service.

Key responsibilities include:

· Leading on employee relations matters including disciplinary, conflict resolution, capability, absence management, redundancy, and restructuring.

· Overseeing the full recruitment lifecycle in line with the DfE’s “Keeping Children Safe in Education” guidance and Trust policies.

· Supporting staff wellbeing initiatives and contributing to a positive workplace culture.

· Building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Trust.

About You

We’re seeking a confident and resilient HR professional who can put the human into human resources. You will have:

· Strong knowledge of employment law and employee relations processes.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· A degree-level education and a minimum of CIPD Level 5 qualification, or equivalent.

You will work from our Central Services Team offices in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and initially will be office-based with the possibility of some remote working, subject to satisfactory probationary performance and in agreement with line management.

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge

Knowledge and experience of alternative resolution processes, such as mediation as a tool for resolving workplace conflict Desirable

Previous recent experience of strategic HR policy development Desirable

Previous recent HR Management experience in the public sector. Desirable

Suitable to work with children (this is a requirement for all Trust staff, whether or not the specific role is student-facing). Essential

IT-literate with practical experience of HRIS and ATS use. Capable of developing into the Trust expert user on HR systems. Essential

A strong working knowledge of, and the ability to apply data protection principles to HR data and information. Essential

Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal sensitively with related issues/individuals with tact, diplomacy and discretion. Essential

A good understanding of employment law and employment rights, including employment tribunal processes and ACAS Codes of practice. Essential

A sound current working knowledge of Employee Relations policies and procedures (e.g. disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance management, absence management etc.) Essential

Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities within an education environment and ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ would be an advantage Desirable

Experience of using SAMPeople and/or SAMPeople Recruit. Desirable
