POSITION SUMMARY As Quality Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of quality assurance and quality control, as well as the day to day leadership and development of the Quality Team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES With the support of the Quality Team, you will: Quality Assurance: Engage proactively in overall business strategy and performance and ensure quality activities are aligned in driving success. Lead the alignment of local quality activities with the strategic direction of the business, and ensure quality supports “what’s important” Ensure the ongoing effectiveness of existing product and quality standards and deploy new and changing quality standards and requirements as identified by the business, including but not limited to: ISO9001 KOSHA HALAL Territory specific requirements (Saudi) Nordic Swan Ecolabel NFS Carry out verification activities, including audits, to confirm that quality standards and systems remain effectively deployed Identify trends from the deviation records and lead associated improvement activities, delivering robust, process not people-based solutions Ensure validation of new and changing components, materials, equipment and processes (including cleaning and sanitisation) is carried out, and that process controls are defined and established. Lead and participate in quality risk assessments using a defined methodology (HACCP / FMEA), and drive the implementation of the risk mitigation program. Develop and deploy appropriate, risk based quality plans, challenging existing specification quality, practices and ways of working Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements in both quality and manufacture processes Create, review, approve and train out new or changing quality documentation Provide training on quality requirements to ensure site wide understanding and compliance Quality Control: Provide QC support for qualification and validation activities in the plant, including new product introductions, new equipment commissioning and cleaning and sanitisation processes Ensure incoming raw materials and packaging components are inspected and released in line with the quality control plan, and carry out repeat testing as necessary. Ensure intermediate and finished blended materials are inspected and released in line with the quality control plan Ensure finished packs are inspected and released in line with the quality control plan, including microbiological testing, weight checks and attribute checks. When quality issues occur, ensure that affected stock is traced and held to prevent it’s use or release. Ensure stock containment and disposition is timely and effective, to mitigate risk to the business and the customer Work with relevant functions to identify and deliver timely solutions to quality failures in order to minimize manufacture impact Ensure quality deviations (complaints, supplier failures, batch failures, audit findings) are recorded, investigated and acted upon in a robust and timely manner. Support: Ensure appropriate testing is carried out to demonstrate that safety and environmental controls remain effective, including enzyme monitoring and trade effluent testing. Ensure containment and investigation is triggered when OOS results are detected. New Product Introduction: Act as the bridge between the central R&D team and the manufacturing site Ensure that manufacture feasibility is carried out prior to introduction or change of products Ensure that the MOC process is followed for product and material changes, and that safety, the environment and quality are not negatively affected by the change Provide feedback to the change requestor on the outcome of the feasibility assessment Ensure that SAP product and material set up workflows are executed in an accurate and timely manner. Ensure manufacture instructions and SOPs are developed to deliver process repeatability Ensure cleaning and sanitisation processes are effective and proceduralised Ensure complex product change management projects are planned and delivered effectively Support process safety and COSHH assessments Provide technical support for Capital engineering projects REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: Previous quality experience in a manufacture environment, preferably in the chemical industry Background in a science based discipline (degree level or appropriate work based experience) Proven people management skills Problem solving, root cause analyses and deployment of robust solutions Strong attention to detail Analytical thinking Ability to make sound, risk based decisions Strong team player Proactive and accountable Ability to lead behavioural change, strong influencing skills Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to present reports and clear action plans Business acumen and customer focus DESIRABLE: Statistical process control FMEA / HACCP Lean tools and techniques Packaging / microbiology experience Good understanding of ISO standards, including ISO9001 and ISO22716 Experienced auditor SAP IT literate (MS Office) We understand that candidates will not meet every single desired qualification.
