CheckFire Ltd is seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to lead the HR function. This is a key leadership role supporting both CheckFire Ltd, FireSealsDirect Ltd and Fire Cycle Ltd, ensuring our people strategy aligns with operational excellence and continued business growth.
Reporting to the HR Director, you will oversee all operational HR activity while contributing to strategic people initiatives. You will manage a small HR team of two and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across the division.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is both operationally strong and strategically aware.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the HR Director in delivering the people strategy across the Group
* Provide expert advice and guidance to senior managers on all people matters
* Contribute to organisational design, workforce planning, and succession planning
* Drive a positive, high-performance culture aligned to company values
* Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission
* Liaise with finance and external payroll providers as required
* Support annual salary review processes and budgeting
* Lead and manage complex ER cases including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, performance management and restructures
* Coach and upskill managers to confidently handle ER matters
* Ensure all HR processes are legally compliant and aligned with current employment legislation
* Oversee HR administration, contracts, onboarding documentation, and employee records
* Maintain accurate HR data and reporting metrics
* Prepare and analyse HR KPIs (absence, turnover, headcount, etc.) to inform business decisions
* Review, update, and implement HR policies and procedures, ensure policies reflect best practice and legislative updates
* Work with the Group Talent Specialist to Improve onboarding and induction processes
* Identify training needs across the divisions and support the implementation of development programmes
* Lead and contribute to HR projects including system improvements, process optimisation, culture initiatives, and organisational change
HR Team Management
* Lead, coach, and develop two direct reports
* Set objectives and conduct performance reviews
* Ensure a responsive and customer-focused HR service
Requirements
* Strong employment law knowledge with a continuous improvement mindset
* Experience managing payroll processes
* Demonstrable experience handling complex ER cases
* Experience managing or mentoring HR team members
* Experience supporting organisational change and HR projects
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
* Analytical mindset with experience using HR data to drive decisions
* Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
Ideally, you’ll also have
Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or similar environment
Experience working within a group or multi-site business
