Freight Sales Executive
Location: Widnes
Salary: Up to £45,000 + Bonus
Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:30-17:30 (Office-based)
Holiday: 20 days + bank holidays
We’re working with a well-established freight forwarder who are looking for a highly motivated Freight Sales Executive to join their growing branch. This is primarily a sales-focused role, perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships, driving new business, and growing profitable accounts.
This position offers the chance to work across sea, air, and road freight, with a focus on sea freight import/export (export bias), generating and winning business while supporting pricing and commercial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive new business and develop existing accounts, building strong, long-term client relationships.
* Respond to enquiries, proactively contact prospects, and convert opportunities into profitable accounts.
* Deliver sales targets, increase market share, and contribute to branch growth.
* Collaborate with operations to ensure smooth onboarding of new customers and seamless shipment execution.
* Prepare and negotiate quotes and pricing, ensuring commercial profitability (approximately 20% of role).
* Monitor account performance, provide market insight, and identify opportunities for upselling services.
* Maintain accurate records of sales activity, client interactions, and pipeline progress.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven track record in freight forwarding sales (essential), ideally with sea freight knowledge.
* Strong relationship-building and commercial negotiation skills.
* Target-driven, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
* Ability to handle pricing and rate management as part of a commercial role.
* Excellent communication, organisation, and client-facing skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and sales reporting tools.
