JOB TITLE: Head of People & Culture
BASE: Hybrid with office locations at Knowsley and Barton plus travel to other sites
DEPARTMENT: People & Culture
REPORTING TO: Director of Finance and Resources
WORKING HOURS: 35 hours per week
SALARY: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum (DOE)
Overall purpose of the role:
North West Air Ambulance Charity is now looking to recruit a Head of People & Culture as it embarks on the next stage of its exciting journey. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Resources, the Head of People & Culture will be a warm, people-first individual, a good all-rounder who will develop and implement our People Strategy, drive forward our values culture and identify and deliver organisational development opportunities.
As our Head of People & Culture, you will be joining an ambitious, trail blazing, life-saving Charity in a pivotal and exciting role as we progress from being ‘Good’ to ‘Great’.
This role is hybrid working with travel to offices in Knowsley and Barton.
The Head of People & Culture will provide effective strategic leadership of the People & Culture function and will lead on the development and delivery of organisational development programmes to support the achievement of the strategic plan.
Main duties and responsibilities:
# OneCrew Culture and Organisational Development
* Lead on the development of the organisation to become an Employer of Choice, attracting and retaining the best talent to achieve the strategic and operational objectives contained in the strategic plan.
* Lead on the development of the #OneCrew culture, ensuring values-led behaviours at all levels.
* Lead on the attainment and ongoing management of Investors in People (IIP) accreditation.
* Develop strategies and plans to maximise employee engagement throughout the organisation.
* Obtain a place in a nationally recognised external assessment of workplace culture e.g. Great Places to Work.
* Direct the operation of the People & Culture function to ensure it supports and delivers strategic organisational development and #OneCrew culture change initiatives in line with the strategic plan.
* Lead on talent attraction, engagement, retention, and development strategies and develop and lead talent management and succession planning initiatives, including the development of the Rising Star programme.
* Develop the NWAA employer brand, ensuring a positive reputation and experience through the attraction, recruitment and on boarding journey.
* Develop and implement the People Strategy.
* Lead on organisational development opportunities and develop People plans that align resources to meet the strategic and operational objectives contained in the strategic plan.
* Lead on the development of cutting edge, innovative and effective professional growth interventions to meet identified organisational and individual needs, ensuring the Charity has the skills and capabilities to deliver its strategic plan.
* Lead on Employee Value Proposition (EVP) strategies to ensure competitive reward packages are in place.
* Develop and implement a system of analytics to measure performance of a range of HR and organisational development targets to ensure compliance and achievement of targets.
* Work with Heads of Departments and Managers to develop their people management skills and capacity, enabling them to excel at recruiting, performance management, on-boarding, coaching, developing, and retaining team members.
Human Resources
* Line manage the members of the People & Culture team, providing coaching and guidance as required.
* Develop, implement and interpret People & Culture policies, procedures and systems in line with employment legislation.
* To interpret and advise on employment legislation and terms and conditions of employment, ensuring professional advice is given at all times and seeking expert external advice as necessary.
* Develop and implement performance management systems (PDRs).
* To lead on the review, procurement, implementation and development of the Charity’s HR information systems as required, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation e.g. UK GDPR.
* To lead on complex change management initiatives (redundancies, TUPE etc) to ensure these are delivered in accordance with agreed objectives.
* To proactively build strong relationships with Heads of Departments and Managers, business partnering and providing support and guidance as required.
* Develop systems and practices to ensure that all sensitive employee relation issues are handled appropriately as required.
* Manage relationships with external service providers.

Qualifications
Essential
* CIPD qualification Level 5.
Desirable
* Chartered MCIPD.
Experience
Essential
* At least 5 years’ experience of successfully leading a People & Culture team.
* At least 5 years’ experience of being a business partner.
* Proven success in leading values-driven organisational development initiatives e.g. IIP.
* Proven ability to obtain and maintain strong employee engagement.
* Demonstrable experience of putting systems in place to ensure that the needs of the organisation are met e.g. absence recording, payroll etc.
* Proven experience of good recruitment practice and end to end recruitment processes.
* Demonstrable experience of developing cutting edge, innovative and effective professional growth opportunities.
* At least 5 years’ experience of producing people reports and analysing data.
