A well-regarded and established secondary school in the London Borough of Croydon is seeking to appoint an experienced, reliable, and proactive Site Manager to join their team from January 2026 on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is central to the smooth day-to-day running of the school and would suit an individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented learning environment. School Information The school is a mixed secondary setting with approximately 1,100 pupils and is rated Ofsted Good. The leadership team values the contribution of support staff highly and works closely with the site team to ensure the school operates efficiently and safely at all times. The Role As Site Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the management, security, and maintenance of the school premises. You will work closely with senior leaders, office staff, and external contractors to ensure that the site is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose throughout the school day and beyond. Key Responsibilities Opening and closing the school site, including key-holding and alarm management Ensuring the security of the premises during the school day and at out-of-hours events Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks across the site Managing health & safety compliance, including fire safety checks, risk assessments, and site inspections Maintaining accurate records for compliance, maintenance, and statutory checks Overseeing contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard Supporting school lettings and occasional evening or weekend use of the facilities The Ideal Candidate Previous experience in a Site Manager, Caretaker, or Facilities role (school-based experience desirable) A strong working knowledge of health & safety regulations and site compliance Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills Reliable, organised, and able to work independently Positive communicator who works well as part of a wider school team What’s on Offer Full-time, permanent position Local authority salary and pension scheme Stable role within a supportive and well-managed school Respectful working environment where support staff are valued
