Sculpture Placement Group is looking for a freelance web developer with experience in WordPress, Elementor, and CSS to support the implementation of a digital toolkit and accessibility improvements on our website.
We’re an arts organisation committed to ethical and inclusive practices, and we’re looking to work with someone who shares those values. This role would suit a developer who’s early in their career but has some solid experience — perhaps someone building their portfolio, or looking to work in more creative and socially-engaged settings.
You’ll be working with our team to help:
-Implement accessibility recommendations from a recent audit.
-Support the development and online publication of a digital toolkit related to our Loan project.
-Make small but meaningful structural, visual, and navigational changes (mostly within Elementor and WordPress), with some custom CSS involved.
This includes tasks such as:
-Adding alt text and improving image descriptions across the site.
-Improving focus order and keyboard navigation.
-Adjusting heading levels and labels for screen readers.
-Ensuring link clarity and fixing broken links.
-Restructuring content for better readability and logical organisation.
-Supporting the creation and styling of a toolkit pages.
Skills Required:
-Solid working knowledge of WordPress (admin and theme management).
-Experience with Elementor (or willingness to learn fast).
-Understanding of CSS and ability to make minor custom adjustments.
-Familiarity with accessibility best practices (or eagerness to learn and apply recommendations with guidance).
-Comfortable working collaboratively and responsively via email or shared documents.
Desirable:
-Interest in the arts, culture, or socially engaged work.
-Based in Scotland.
-Experience working in line with values of equity, inclusion, and fair work principles.
Time Commitment:
We estimate this project will require around 4–6 days of work spread flexibly over 3–4 weeks, depending on availability and working speed. We're open to discussing the scope and approach with the selected person.
Pay:
This is a freelance role, with a total fee of £1200 (based on approximation of 6 days @ £200 p/d). We are committed to fair and prompt payment.
