Innov8 Workshops is a vocational charity dedicated to helping young people aged 11–16 develop skills, resilience, and confidence through hands-on learning and mentoring. We are seeking a
Youth Mentor/Fitness Instructor
to lead our fitness programme and act as a positive role model for our students.
The Role
As a Youth Mentor – Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for running our on-site fitness workshop and delivering a range of physical activities to support student wellbeing, self-esteem, and confidence. In addition to gym-based sessions, you will also coach activities such as football, basketball, or cycling.
Your role will involve providing both specialist and general mentoring, supporting young people with SEN and SEMH needs. You will design and deliver individualised fitness and wellbeing programmes, prepare reflective student reports, and contribute positively to the wider team to ensure the highest standards of service. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people will be at the heart of everything you do.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver structured fitness training sessions in our on-site gym.
* Lead and coach additional activities such as football, basketball, or cycling.
* Provide one-to-one and group mentoring tailored to students with SEN and SEMH needs.
* Design personalised programmes to meet the specific needs of individual students.
* Prepare clear and reflective reports on student progress.
* Ensure best practice in safeguarding and actively promote student welfare.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing to the ethos and values of Innov8 Workshops.
* Act as a professional ambassador for Innov8, promoting our services and acting as a role model for students.
Essential Responsibilities
* A recognised Sports/Fitness qualification.
* A qualification in boxing or kickboxing.
* Ability to work independently with confidence in decision-making.
* Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and visitors.
* Empathy and tolerance in supporting the needs of young people.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint and OneDrive.
* Knowledge of SEN and SEMH.
* Excellent written communication skills.
* A collaborative approach and ability to work as part of a team.

* Knowledge of the UK education system.

* Commitment to continuous professional development in mentoring, safeguarding, and health and safety.
