The HTB Group is seeking an experienced Head of People to lead and shape a healthy, mindsets‑driven culture across our four charities.
The People Team supports all people matters across the Group, equipping, resourcing, developing and caring for our staff community including employees, casual workers, clergy, students and volunteers so that everyone can flourish and contribute fully to our shared vision.
As Head of People, you will play a central leadership role, overseeing excellent, legally compliant and people‑centred HR practices across the full employee lifecycle. You will support approximately 400 staff, partner closely with senior leaders, and ensure that our people strategy, policies and practices are aligned with our Christian ethos and organisational mindsets.
As part of this role you will:
* Lead the People Strategy across the HTB Group, aligning people practices with mission, mindsets and organisational priorities, and advising senior leaders on workforce planning and culture.
* Champion culture and organisational development, embedding Christian values, healthy ways of working, psychological safety and effective change across teams.
* Oversee HR policy, compliance and governance, ensuring consistent, legally compliant people practices across all entities.
* Provide expert employee relations leadership, supporting fair, timely and pastorally sensitive resolution of people issues and coaching managers in performance and conflict conversations.
* Build manager capability, delivering training, tools and guidance that enable leaders to lead people well and confidently.
* Lead talent, recruitment and workforce planning, ensuring inclusive, high‑quality recruitment, strong onboarding and future‑focused resourcing.
* Oversee learning, wellbeing and reward, including leadership development, pastoral care approaches, payroll, pay reviews, benefits and HR systems.
* Lead and develop the People Team, modelling a collaborative, service‑oriented and people‑first leadership style.
Requirements
* Significant senior‑level HR leadership experience, with a strong track record of shaping and delivering effective People practice.
* CIPD qualified (Level 5 or Chartered) with a thorough knowledge of UK employment law and best‑practice employee relations.
* Strong, values‑driven leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and build trusted relationships at all levels.
* Strategically minded yet hands‑on, combining people operations excellence with the ability to lead change and navigate complexity.
* Highly organised, resilient and people‑centred, acting with integrity, confidentiality and a practical, solutions‑focused approach.
