Hultsteins is a manufacturer and distributor of diesel free temperature-controlled solutions. The company has been designing and producing hydraulic drive transport refrigeration systems for over 60 years in Sweden and launched in the UK during 2019. Our aim is to drive the industry forwards with innovation and technology whilst helping our customers work towards their sustainability goals. We manufacture our own products Ecogen a hydraulic electric generator and Ecofridge a hydraulic fridge unit on site in Sweden. As well as this we also distribute other products such as air curtains and Orbcomm temperature telematics.

Due to continued growth as the overall industry is adapting to more sustainable solutions for temperature-controlled transport, we need to continue to expand our team. At Hultsteins we pride ourselves on being a small team with big achievements, we are hardworking but also have a genuine work life balance.

To support the growth and development of the business within the UK temperature-controlled transport industry we have identified a requirement for further attention in business development. Therefore, we are seeking a business development manager for the UK. The successful candidate will work closely with our UK managing director who leads sales.

This is a full-time role commuting to the Biggleswade office.


The Role:

This is an entry level B2B sales position for a driven graduate who wants to develop a strong technical sales career within the transport and logistics sector. Your primary focus will be to support the growth of the Hultsteins UK customer base by generating qualified new leads. Whilst also nurturing existing relationships and supporting the end-to-end sales process from first contract to installation handover.

Key Role Responsibilities:

* Prospect and generate new business leads among transport fleets, logistics companies, rental/lease providers and bodybuilders via phone, email, LinkedIn and events.
* Qualify inbound and outbound leads, understanding fleet size, current refrigeration set-up, pain points and decision‑making processes.
* Book and prepare sales appointments, demos and site visits.
* Support the sales cycle by preparing proposals, basic ROI calculations, payback models and presentations aligned to customer needs.
* Maintain accurate records of all leads, opportunities and activities in the CRM, ensuring data quality and timely follow‑up.
* Build product knowledge around Hultsteins’ diesel‑free and hybrid systems, staying up to date with industry trends, environmental regulations and competitor offerings.
* Attend industry events, trade shows, customer open days and ride‑along with senior colleagues to build market understanding and relationships.
* Work closely with marketing to follow up campaign responses, share customer insights and help shape future outreach.
* Support tender responses and framework opportunities with data gathering and document preparation.
* Contribute to sales forecasts and pipeline reviews, providing clear visibility of activity and opportunity status.


Education and Experience:

* Any prior experience in B2B sales, customer‑facing roles, logistics, transport or automotive (internships, placements, part‑time work) is advantageous but not essential.
* Skills and Competencies:
* Attitude & Aptitude – Its critical to be self‑motivated with a proactive, positive mindset.
* People buy from people – A good sense of humour and a likable personality are essential.
* Strong communication skills (written and verbal), able to engage confidently with customers at different levels.
* Comfortable with outbound activity (phone, email, LinkedIn) and building new relationships from scratch.
* Curious, commercially aware and able to quickly grasp technical concepts and explain them in simple terms.
* Numerate and confident using basic spreadsheets to support ROI and payback calculations.
* Highly organised, able to manage multiple leads, tasks and deadlines with attention to detail.
* Full UK driving licence (or working towards) and willingness to travel across the UK when required.
