Job Summary
We are recruiting a reliable and experienced Cook to work in a residential home supporting older people living with dementia. This role requires someone who can prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals and cater for a range of specialist dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities
As the Cook, you will:
1. Prepare daily meals for residents, including specialist and modified diets.
2. Ensure food is cooked to a high standard, following nutritional guidelines for older adults.
3. Maintain excellent kitchen hygiene and food safety practices always.
4. Work safely and professionally within a residential care home environment.
5. Communicate effectively with staff and residents to understand meal requirements.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
To be considered, you must have:
6. A recognised Catering qualification.
7. Food Safety Level 2 (minimum).
8. Experience cooking for older people or in a care/residential home setting.
9. Understanding of special diets (e.g., soft diets, diabetic meals, allergen awareness).
10. A clean Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
11. Relevant training for working in a care or hospitality environment.
12. Reliability, professionalism and a caring attitude.

Requirements
Person Specification Essential: Minimum 6 months of experience in a similar caretaking or facilities role Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) procedures Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and manage daily tasks without supervision Good communication skills and a professional approach to duties Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic Desirable: Previous experience working in a residential, school, or public-facing environment Basic maintenance or DIY skills Familiarity with safeguarding procedures (training can be provided)
