Hays are working with the Northern Ireland Assembly to recruit a temporary Clerical Officer (Finance) to support with the day-to-day administrative work of the Finance Office.
Your new role
As a Clerical Officer within the Finance Team, you will contribute to the day‑to‑day administration of finance activities across areas such as Payroll, Pensions, Claims and Accounts Payable. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Delivering professional customer service to internal staff, elected representatives and external suppliers.
2. Processing financial information including invoices, payroll data, expenses and payment transactions.
3. Assisting with routine reconciliations and carrying out updates or corrections across finance and payroll systems.
4. Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems.
5. Managing shared mailboxes, correspondence and responding to routine enquiries.
6. Using Microsoft Office and internal financial systems to support daily operations.
7. Adhering to organisational policies including Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work.
8. Providing general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the finance office.
What you'll need to succeed
To be shortlisted for this role, you must meet one of the following routes:
Route 1:
9. A minimum of 2 A Levels at grades A–C and 5 GCSEs at grades A*–C including English and Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications.
10. At least 2 years’ experience in a finance or finance‑related administrative environment covering:
11. Processing invoices, payroll information and/or expense claims.
12. Managing workload effectively and producing accurate work to deadlines.
13. Using finance software and Microsoft Office to process financial information.
Route 2:A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a finance office or an administrative role carrying out finance duties, covering all the areas listed above.
Candidates will also demonstrate:
