We are looking for a dynamic HR Manager to lead and enhance the entire employee journey, from onboarding to everyday engagement on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover Maternity. In this pivotal role, you will ensure smooth and efficient people operations, uphold strong governance, and provide practical, hands-on support to colleagues.
You will be at the heart of creating a positive and consistent workplace culture, driving engagement through robust processes, effective coaching, and innovative systems. Extensive experience in managing complex employee relations matters is essential, as you will play a key role in guiding and supporting leaders through sensitive and challenging situations. You will also support the organisation in preparing for and implementing changes linked to the upcoming Employment Rights Bill.

Here’s a taste of what you will be doing as an Interim HR Manager at Nottingham Building Society:
* Lead People Operations: Coach and develop the team to deliver high-quality, timely, and consistent advice.
* Improve Processes: Continuously review and enhance core People Operations processes to ensure efficiency, compliance, and a people-first approach.
* Manage Employee Relations: Oversee all ER activity, acting as the escalation point for complex cases and ensuring fair, timely resolutions.
* Develop ER Capability : Coach the team on best practice and provide insightful management information on trends and risks.
* Ensure Compliance: Drive the review and implementation of legislative changes, including supporting the organisation through the upcoming Employment Rights Bill.
* Maintain Policies: Keep documentation, policies, and records accurate, modern, inclusive, and aligned with HR best practice and company values.
* Enhance HR Systems: Ensure data integrity and support the development of workflows and new modules to improve automation and colleague experience.
About you:
* HR Leadership: Proven experience leading HR teams and advisory functions across people operations, employee relations, and policy.
* Employment Law Expertise: Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice, with extensive experience in ER case management.
* Systems and Data Skills: Confident using HR platforms, influencing system design, and leveraging data for insight and decision-making.
* Process Improvement: Track record of simplifying HR processes, driving automation, and enhancing colleague experience.
* Communication and Influence: Excellent written and verbal skills, able to translate complex information into clear, practical guidance.
* Change and Collaboration: Skilled in leading change, building strong partnerships, and fostering an inclusive, people-first culture.
* Professional Credentials: CIPD qualification desirable, with curiosity, emotional intelligence, and a solutions-focused mindset.
