Salary: £50,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 2/3 days working from home.

Reports to: Head of IT Services.

Location: Harlow, Essex. Easily commutable from London Liverpool Street or Tottenham Hale Station. We offer a free minibus service to/from Harlow Town Train Station as well as free parking and EV charging on site.

Extra Information: Open to conversation on hybrid, flexible and compressed working arrangements.


About the role:

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled CMS Developer to take ownership of our Umbraco platform. In this critical role, you will enhance our internal capabilities by managing, maintaining, and evolving our CMS—reducing reliance on external development support, accelerating content delivery, and improving cost-efficiency. As part of the wider IT function, you will also contribute to broader digital transformation initiatives and collaborate across teams to support the evolution of our digital platforms.



What you will be doing:

· Lead development, configuration, and maintenance of our CMS (Umbraco or similar).

· Manage technical aspects of platforms with external partners.

· Implement content, layout, and UX changes to support organisational and campaign needs. Troubleshoot issues and manage platform/s performance.

· Diagnose and resolve CMS issues, ensuring platform stability and performance.

· Deliver new features, enhancements, and platform updates in line with internal stakeholder requirements.

· Ensure all development meets accessibility, usability, performance, and security standards.

· Maintain clear technical documentation and support robust CMS governance.

· Provide guidance, training, and technical support to colleagues who use or contribute to the CMS.

· Triage and prioritise CMS-related requests, managing communications with stakeholders.

· Collaborate with colleagues across IT and Digital teams, contributing to wider efficiency and transformation programmes.

Requirements


Your experience:

Must haves:

· Proven experience developing and supporting CMS platforms (e.g., Umbraco, Sitecore, Episerver).

· Strong proficiency in .NET / C#, particularly backend development for web-based solutions.

· Solid front-end development skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (and frameworks such as jQuery).

· Experience with component-based CMS development and templating.

· Familiarity with content workflows, publishing pipelines, and permission models.

· Ability to manage projects or features from requirements through to delivery.

Nice to haves:

· Experience with enterprise CMS platforms in multi-stakeholder environment.

· Knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration techniques.

· Understanding of WCAG accessibility standards.

· Exposure to DevOps practices and version control (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps).

· Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 suite, including SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.

· Experience of managing SEO

· Experience of designing AI powered elements/modules

· Experience working in a not-for-profit or charity environment
