St John Rigby College offers a wide range of academic and vocational courses at all levels in a highly supportive and caring environment to approximately 1500 full‑time students aged 16‑18. In January 2024 the College retained its Ofsted “outstanding” judgement with inspectors commenting: “students are highly motivated to achieve”. They embody the culture of kindness, mutual respect and high expectation that permeate the college. In December 2023, the “outstanding” inspection report from the Catholic Schools Inspectorate began with: “St John Rigby College is a joyful, happy and supportive community.”
Learning Support Mentor
Part‑time 32.5 hours per week. Working pattern Monday‑Friday 09.00‑16.15 (08.45‑16.00 Tuesday). Fixed‑term contract to July 2026 – term time only. Salary: £25,951 – £26,818 pro‑rata per annum (Spine Points 7‑9). Actual salary range £19,691 – £20,349.
Responsibilities:
* Support individual students in developing study skills, good organisation and work habits.
* Provide a supportive learning environment to enable students to achieve their academic ambitions.
* Liaise with parents and carers to establish positive relationships and support student progress.
To perform this role successfully you will need:
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
* An enthusiasm for working with young people and a commitment to supporting their development.
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to promote student success.
