Role
The main purpose of the Site Agent is to manage the construction site to achieve the required project delivery while maintaining health and safety, quality, environmental, and cost control standards. The Site Agent will deliver projects to specified quality, programme, and commercial performance, working closely with the Contracts Manager/Project Manager, engineers, and quantity surveyors.
Key Responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of projects in the Civils and Water sectors.
* Deliver work to the specified quality without defects.
* Lead a team of Sub Agents, Engineers, and Foremen when required to deliver work safely without environmental incidents.
* Produce and implement Project Plans, RAMS, ITP, and, where specified, Waste Management Plans in line with company procedures.
* Maximise the commercial performance of the contract.
* Produce and manage the project construction programme and a 2‑week look‑ahead.
* Create procurement schedules and liaise with procurement to ensure adequate resources.
Client Interface
* Act as an ambassador representing the business to customers, the public, and official bodies.
* Ensure product delivery meets customer requirements and satisfaction.
Cost Control
* Populate and manage the Barhale cost plan for the project.
* Maximise project value.
* Maintain detailed site diaries/records.
* Use commercial tension to drive cost savings and challenge the status quo.
* Identify and highlight value engineering opportunities.
Reporting
* Produce accurate monthly reports internally and for the client.
* Chair weekly site meetings in line with company procedures.
Essential Qualifications
* Experience as a Site Agent in civil engineering within a contractor organisation.
* Knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management, and cost control (forecasting, actual cost, value reporting).
* Good knowledge of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering.
* Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
* CSCS card – mandatory.
* IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS certification.
* Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
* Confined space training.
* Excellent communication, people, and team management skills.
* Ability to challenge designs and resolve issues to conclusion.
Desirable Qualifications
* CEng (MICE) or equivalent.
* Knowledge of Primavera P6 software.
* Knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
