About the role
The Catering Manager will lead the food and beverage operation across Southwell Racecourse and Southwell Golf Club, overseeing catering and events for race days, golf events, conferences, weddings, and hospitality experiences. The role ensures exceptional guest service, operational excellence, strong commercial performance, compliance, effective stock and cost control, and the development of high‑performing teams. Working closely with venue leadership and central support teams, the candidate will play a key role in driving revenue growth and creating outstanding customer experiences across both venues.
Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is essential. The position requires working unsocial hours on a regular basis, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
Responsibilities
* Lead the catering and events strategy to drive commercial growth.
* Deliver exceptional food, service, and customer experiences.
* Drive operational excellence through best practice and continuous improvement.
* Oversee catering systems including Kappture, K-Stock, Humanforce, and EMS.
* Manage labour, food costs, budgets, and revenue performance.
* Ensure full compliance with food safety, HACCP, COSHH, and H&S standards.
* Coach and develop high‑performing catering teams.
* Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Marketing, HR, and Group teams.
* Support innovative food, beverage, and retail strategies.
* Use reporting and data insights to improve performance and efficiency.
* Build strong relationships across sites and support key events.
* Identify new opportunities to grow revenue and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
* Experience of leading and managing a team of people.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant role.
* Drive high operational standards, championing attention to detail and exceeding customer expectations.
* Be IT proficient, including Microsoft Office, stock management and EPOS systems.
* Have a positive, approachable and professional manner.
* Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
* Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
