Second Chef

We are currently recruiting a Second Chef for our Hospitality team. Working as a Second Chef at Runwood Homes offers the opportunity to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without split shifts and long hours. We seek warm, motivated, and passionate chefs who are committed to quality and high standards, providing person-centered hospitality to our residents. Our approach is open, honest, and supportive, with quality of care at the core of everything we do.
Key responsibilities:
* Maintain high standards at all stages of food preparation to ensure residents' well-being.
* Prepare and serve meals according to the menu and company requirements.
* Comply with the Food Safety & Hygiene Regulations (England and Northern Ireland).
* Ensure meals are presented attractively and tastefully.
* Maintain portion control to minimize waste.
* Meet dietary requirements (e.g., high calorie, low sugar) by following recipes and adapting dishes as needed.
* Maintain systems and checks for a safe, healthy, and efficient working environment.
* Store all food and items correctly.
* Monitor stock levels, rotate stock effectively, and place orders when necessary.
* Deputize for the Head Chef as required.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Relevant catering experience.
* NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds equivalent.
* Team player with good communication skills.
* Understanding of dietary and nutritional requirements.
* Interest in working within a caring environment.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Satisfactory police check and ISA check (if applicable).
* Basic knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
