Intelance is a specialist consultancy in Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, and AI. We are building a lean, senior team to stand up a new Enterprise Architecture function for a major engineering and project-delivery group in North Africa. We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to define data domains, models, and principles, map key data flows, and support our architects with clear, practical guidance on data lineage and integration.
Tasks
* Work with Enterprise, Solution, and Business Architects to define the client’s data architecture baseline (domains, entities, owners, flows).
* Identify and document key data sources, integrations, and reporting layers across core systems (ERP, project systems, engineering tools, etc.).
* Design high-level conceptual and logical data models for priority domains (e.g. projects, assets, work orders, finance, risk, compliance).
* Define data principles, standards, and guidelines (naming, keys, reference data, quality rules, retention).
* Map data lineage for critical reports and interfaces, highlighting breaks, quality issues, and technical debt.
* Provide data input into HLA/HLD designs for 1-2 pilot projects going through the new EA workflow.
* Collaborate with Integration and Security Architects to ensure APIs, data services, and controls align with the target data architecture.
* Contribute to the EA repository with clear, versioned data artefacts and diagrams.
* Advise client teams on priorities for data improvement (master data, reporting, governance) and help shape a realistic data roadmap.
Requirements
* 7+ years’ experience in Data Architecture, Data Modelling, or related roles.
* Proven track record designing conceptual and logical data models for complex, multi-system environments.
* Experience mapping data flows and lineage across transactional systems, integrations, and reporting platforms.
* Strong understanding of data management practices: data quality, master data, reference data, metadata, retention, and ownership.
* Hands‑on exposure to at least one modern data and analytics platform (e.g. Azure Data Platform, SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, SAP BW/HANA, or similar).
* Comfortable working with integration patterns (APIs, ETL/ELT, streaming) and collaborating closely with Integration Architects.
* Able to explain data concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills in English and comfortable working in a hybrid model (remote plus occasional on‑site visits to Casablanca and/or London).
Nice to have
* Experience in engineering, construction, energy, utilities, or other project‑driven industries.
* Knowledge of BI/reporting tools (e.g. Power BI) and how reports should be designed on top of well‑structured models.
* Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools (data catalogues, business glossaries).
* French language skills and/or experience working with Francophone or North African clients.
* Previous work alongside Enterprise Architecture teams or within an EA‑governed environment.
Benefits
* Play a key role in defining the data foundations of a new Enterprise Architecture capability for a major engineering and project‑delivery group.
* Work in a small, senior team focused on practical outcomes rather than heavy bureaucracy.
* Hybrid working model - remote by default, with targeted on‑site trips to build strong relationships and run critical workshops.
* Exposure to Intelance’s broader EA, Cybersecurity, and AI work and the chance to influence how data is treated across multiple clients.
* Competitive compensation with options for freelance / Ltd company engagement or longer‑term collaboration.
* Direct access to Intelance leadership and the opportunity to help shape our data architecture methods and accelerators.
If you are a Data Architect who enjoys turning messy, scattered data into clear models, lineage, and principles that drive real decisions, we would like to hear from you.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief introductory call, followed by a practical case discussion with the Intelance team.
