School Second Chef
Contract: Term Time Only (39 weeks per year)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced School Second Chef to join our team. In this role, you will support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals for students and staff. You’ll also help lead and motivate the kitchen team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in a busy school environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Head Chef in preparing and serving balanced, healthy, and appealing meals.
* Supervise and support kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food production and service.
* Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and allergy management regulations.
* Manage stock control, ordering, and deliveries to maintain kitchen efficiency.
* Contribute to menu planning and innovation in line with dietary and nutritional guidelines.
* Support the training and development of kitchen team members.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within education or contract catering.
* Strong culinary skills with a sound understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills.
* Up-to-date knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
* Ability to train, mentor, and motivate other team members.
