Key Responsibilities
* Direct Student Support: Provide individualized or small group support in lessons, helping students access learning and develop life skills.
* Build Relationships: Act as a positive role model, fostering trust and empowering students to overcome challenges.
* Develop Strategies: Create and implement action plans, behavior management techniques, and personalized learning strategies for students with SEN.
* Liaise & Collaborate: Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, parents, and external agencies (psychologists, social workers) to ensure holistic support.
* Monitor Progress: Keep detailed records, track attendance, and report on student progress and well-being.
* Promote Independence: Aim to reduce reliance on the mentor by teaching self-advocacy and coping mechanisms.
Typical Duties
* Supporting students with additional needs in mainstream settings.
* Running targeted interventions for specific learning or social challenges.
* Addressing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
* Organizing and leading extracurricular or out-of-school activities.
* Helping students understand school systems and routines.
Skills & Qualities
* Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
* Ability to motivate and build self-esteem.
* Understanding of SEN and different learning styles.
* Good organizational and record-keeping skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
