Summary
* The Children's Cook is tasked with preparing and delivering nutritious, balanced meals for children and staff within a care setting. This role is crucial in ensuring that meals are cooked to a high standard, meet dietary requirements, and are served on time. The position involves preparing a daily light lunch and a two-course evening meal.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook a single-course light lunch to be served at 1:00 PM.
* Prepare and cook a two-course evening meal to be served at 5:00 PM.
* Cater for up to 20 children and adults, ensuring appropriate portion sizes.
* Follow set menus and pre-planned food orders.
* Ensure all meals are nutritious, balanced, and suitable for children.
Requirements
* Previous experience working as a cook, preferably within a school, care, or childcare setting.
* Experience preparing meals for groups.
* Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
* Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) – essential.
Additional Information
* Working hours: 37 hours per week with some flexibility, but meals must be prepared at specified times.
* Menus are provided, and food orders are already planned.
* Enhanced DBS check with Child Barred List required.
* Location: Orchard House, RH17 5HN.
* We operate on a bi-weekly schedule.
