Job Title: Data Architect – Local Government
Contract: 3 months (potential to extend)
Location: Hybrid – London (on-site 1-2 days per week)
Rate: £600/day (Inside IR35, via Umbrella)
Start: ASAP
Salt is partnering with a forward-thinking Local Government body in London seeking a Data Architect to lead a high-impact piece of work within its strategic planning function.
You’ll play a central role in transforming how planning data is structured, shared, and governed. The work focuses on the reverse engineering of the existing data model within the IDOX Uniform platform, mapping out current state, and designing a future-fit architecture that supports strategic decision-making and improved service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyse current workflows and how data is used across the Town Planning function
2. Reverse engineer the As-Is physical data model of the IDOX Uniform system
3. Design a To-Be conceptual and physical data model aligned with business goals
4. Develop a full data dictionary and data catalogue
5. Map data flows and integration points across internal systems
6. Document data lineage and support the implementation of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
7. Engage stakeholders to ensure alignment between data architecture and service needs
What We’re Looking For:
8. Proven experience in data architecture and data modelling ( dimensional, data vault)
9. Strong knowledge of system integration, data flow mapping, and data lineage documentation
10. Solid background in business process mapping
11. Able to work independently in a hybrid, public-sector setting
12. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Desirable:
13. Experience with IDOX Uniform or other planning systems
14. Background working in local government or public sector data environments
