Cook – Hospital Setting (Newry)
Location: Newry
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Full-time
Shifts:
1. 6:30am – 2:30pm
2. 9:15am – 5:15pm
3. 10:30am – 6:30pm
4. Includes working every other weekend
Pay Rates:
5. Monday – Friday: £12.75 per hour
6. Saturday: £17.22 per hour
7. Sunday: £21.55 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to join our catering team within a busy hospital setting in Newry. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to patient care by preparing high-quality, nutritious meals in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
8. Prepare and cook meals in line with dietary requirements and hospital standards
9. Ensure food is prepared, presented, and served to a high standard
10. Follow strict food hygiene and health & safety procedures
11. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and work areas
12. Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
13. Ensure compliance with food safety legislation (HACCP)
14. Work collaboratively with kitchen and catering staff
15. Support the delivery of meals to wards where required
16. Adapt menus for special dietary needs (e.g. allergens, soft diets)
Essential Criteria
17. Previous experience as a Cook is essential
18. Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
19. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
20. Good organisational and time management skills
21. Flexibility to work a rota that includes weekends and varied shifts
22. Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
