Job Description
Plan and deliver organised workshops to students with additional learning needs to support their success, achievement, and progress. All workshops should be informed by students' needs and include subjects such as exam skills, social skills, independence skills, employability skills, study skills, and life skills. The aim is to contribute to students' outcomes and play a key role in their success.
Work with the ALS/Enhance Team Leaders, Programme Coordinators, Transition Coordinators, and Enrichment Team to plan and deliver a wide range of extra-curricular activities for students with EHCPs. These activities should meet their specified outcomes and facilitate greater independence, enabling students in receipt of high needs funding and those with declared support needs to access learning and college facilities. This supports transition to college, retention, and achievement.
The following outlines the main priorities for this role, as directed by your line manager. This list is not exhaustive:
1. Plan, facilitate, and deliver tailored workshops and 1:1 support meetings for students with SEND that promote independence and success in their chosen fields or greater independence in daily life.
2. Facilitate the target-setting process for individual students in collaboration with curriculum teams, using EHCP outcomes to set ambitious learning goals that enhance employment opportunities and independence. Attend review meetings and PCARs to support the development and review of personalised learning goals.
3. Liaise with Teachers and Learning Support Assistants to identify students' progress, including target grades and skills needed to progress. Use this information to develop support programmes.
4. Utilise and develop learning resources, including assistive technology and online/remote learning tools, to help students overcome barriers to achieving their goals.
5. Review, develop, and implement strategies and interventions, such as Zones of Regulation, to support students in building confidence and self-esteem.
6. Assess, analyse, and report on students’ progress, attending reviews as needed, and recording achievements to measure the impact of interventions.
7. Support the identification of students' needs during the interview process to ensure support is planned before enrolment.
8. Liaise with parents/carers, college staff, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support plans for each student.
9. Act as the main contact for students and families during key periods, facilitating Person Centred Annual Reviews (PCARs) and supporting smooth transitions.
10. Promote the work of the ALS/Enhance team within college to foster an inclusive culture.
