Salary: £24,030 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working weeks: 38 weeks per year (term time)
Catering Manager - About the role
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Catering Manager to lead the catering service within a busy primary school. This is a hands-on role, where you will not only manage the kitchen and team but also actively participate in the preparation and cooking of fresh, nutritious meals each day.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality food that supports pupils’ health and wellbeing while ensuring smooth kitchen operations and compliance with all food safety standards.
Catering Manager - Key responsibilities
* Lead and organise day-to-day kitchen operations
* Take a hands-on approach to cooking, food preparation, and service
* Plan and prepare fresh, nutritious meals in line with school food standards
* Supervise, motivate, and support catering staff
* Ensure food hygiene, allergen management, and health & safety compliance
* Manage ordering, stock control, and budget responsibilities
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and efficiency
* Engage positively with pupils and staff and promote healthy eating initiatives
Catering Manager - About you
* Experience in a catering or kitchen management role
* A passion for cooking and delivering quality meals from fresh ingredients
* Comfortable working in a hands-on capacity alongside the team
* Strong leadership and organisational skills
* Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety regulations
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced school environment
* Food hygiene qualification (desirable)
