Overview

This post is being advertised for the purposes of covering maternity leave.

A talented and motivated Chemotherapy Quality Manager is sought to continue developing our quality management system and drive service improvement within the Chemotherapy Service. The post holder will be required to support our Chemotherapy Governance processes as well as lead on and support projects within the service. The post holder should have excellent IT skills, be well organized and methodical with good communication skills. On the job training for the Quality Management software will be provided where required.


Responsibilities

* The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation and continual development of the Quality Management System, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary Chemotherapy team.
* The postholder will ensure compliance with new healthcare regulations, standards, and policies (e.g. UK SACT board).
* Support the development of PPGs relating to the safe prescribing, screening and administration of SACT, as well as developing and maintaining governance frameworks that clarify roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes.
* Oversee all SACT related incidents and facilitate a multi-disciplinary review of reported incidents, errors and near misses. Ensure incidents are investigated in a timely fashion, and that they are tracked and trended to identify areas for improvement.
* Ensure learning is shared across the service to improve patient safety, clinical quality, and service delivery.
* Identify training needs in relation to audit recommendations, incident reports or development of new policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Manage their own sub-team including an Assistant Quality Manager and Project Support Administrator.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

* Educated to a degree level or equivalent
* Relevant post-graduate training in quality management or equivalent experience in quality management
* Knowledge of the NHS or other healthcare system(s)
* Familiar and competent with research methodology and clinical audit
* Knowledge of governance processes e.g. incident management & risk assessment

Desirable

* Knowledge of Chemotherapy Services
* Q-Pulse Administration
* Lean & Performance Improvement

Experience

* Experience in a regulated healthcare setting, at least 1 year of which has been in a quality or project management capacity
* Experience of supporting internal and external accreditation
* Experience of supporting education, development and training
* Experience in compiling and implementing policies and procedures that support service improvement

Skills and Abilities

* Able to work collaboratively and effectively with others at all levels
* Good problem solving and time management skills
* Able to collate and analyse complex information and produce reports and presentations for a wide variety of audiences
* Proficient in the use of IT, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, internet and email

Communication

* Good communication Skills (verbal, non-verbal and written)
* Able to negotiate and persuade staff and colleagues at different levels

Personal and People Development

* Evidence of continuous personal and professional development
* Able to organise, multi-disciplinary workshops and training events
