Overview
Sales Executive role for Nippon Express Group in the UK. Location: Various UK locations (field sales covering Midlands or London and surrounding areas). The Nippon Express Group is a global logistics service provider with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. The group offers services including air and ocean freight forwarding, cargo handling, relocation services, and warehousing, with a workforce of over 73,000 in 50+ countries.
The UK operation has offices and logistics centres in key locations such as London, Glasgow, Manchester, and additional strategic sites, supporting trade between Japan, the UK, and Europe. The company focuses on expanding its digital logistics solutions and sustainability initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Responsibilities
* Prospect and develop new opportunities through telemarketing, direct mail, client visits to qualify and develop prospects
* Build a strong portfolio of accounts via targeted business development and existing client networks
* Cold call and schedule regular meetings with prospects and established clients, providing a consultative service and upselling where appropriate
* Promote Nippon products and services through presentations and demonstrations
* Collaborate with the UK sales team to plan and implement sales strategies to increase personal and group profitability
* Act as the initial contact for commercial customer enquiries, escalations and queries
* Submit regular budgets, opportunity pipelines and weekly activity reports using Salesforce or similar tools
* Identify improvements to services and quality to encourage ongoing business development and customer loyalty
* Create Standard Operating Procedures with operational departments to ensure smooth onboarding of new accounts
* Manage client base in nominated areas, addressing early operational or financial issues in partnership with operations

* Experience in freight forwarding/logistics with a proven field sales track record
* Ideally educated to degree level
