About The Role

As part of our continued commitment to building a more resilient UK energy network, we’re looking for an experienced OHL Site Manager to join our Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team. The Role
As an OHL (Overhead Lines) Site Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading the on‑site delivery of critical power infrastructure projects. You will be entrusted with the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of construction works, collaborating closely with project leadership to ensure success at every stage—from planning to handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage on‑site construction activities for OHL projects.
* Support Project Managers/Directors in delivering construction works to scope, time, cost, and quality targets.
* Ensure site resource management is efficient, effective, and compliant.
* Champion a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
* Produce and maintain accurate site records and progress documentation.
* Inspire, lead, and care for the teams delivering the work on‑site.
* Monitor and review delivery to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance.
* Be a change agent, driving innovation, leadership, and alignment across multi‑disciplinary teams.
* Help define and achieve customer objectives by balancing time, cost, scope, risk and quality.
* Attend periodic project reviews (PRM) and update the Digital Briefcase in accordance with GBL.
* Maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries, etc.).
* Prepare internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders.
* Implement good scope/information/configuration management principles.
* Ensure reports provide relevant information for cost‑effective decisions aligned with overall strategy.
* Align scope and package assignment with team coordination.
* Understand and specify plant and equipment requirements.
* Use numerical skill for resource planning.
* Maintain focus on Zero Harm and keep up to date with changes in legislation.
* Be partially responsible for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain.
* Carry out periodic Safety & Environmental Tours and promote observational safety initiatives.
* Support Accident/Incident Investigations.
* Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement solutions.
* Ensure welfare requirements are met.
* Write RAMS and accept subcontractor RAMS.
* Identify, raise and report risks and hazards.
* Ensure workforce sufficiency and competency.
* Reinforce golden rules.
* Control and issue safety documentation.
* Promote behavioural safety.
* Develop, implement and update resource allocation plans (OBS) and raise appropriate requests.
* Set people to work and plan delivery to programme.
* Check competencies and escalates issues.
* Upskill others, empower the team to stop works.
* Coordinate with other project activities and internal functions.
* Deliver a quality product, highlight resource issues and motivate the team through training, mentoring and performance management.
* Drive productivity and assist the Project Manager to lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes.
* Log and escape any issues that cannot be resolved at delegated level of authority.
* Manage subcontractors, monitor contractor attendance and progress, provide direct instruction and support as necessary to achieve contractual arrangements.
* Ensure procurement plans are aligned with overall project plans to deliver material/resources in time.
* Keep expenditure in line with the budget and utilise resources efficiently for cost control.
* Identify elements for cost recovery from others.
* Incorporate and balance operational and commercial constraints into decision making.
* Analyse, appraise and implement CEs.
* Understand commercial impact and notify of commercial changes.
* Request plant and materials.
* Quantify materials needed.
Essential Qualities / Experience
* Experience in implementing safe systems of work.
* Experience in managing risks and change processes.
* Good understanding of standard forms of contracts.
* Proficient in commercial/project management communications.
* Effective verbal and written communication with all organisational levels.
* Good interpersonal skills enabling working relationships across the business and ability to negotiate and influence.
* Ability to work under high pressure situations with a flexible attitude.
* Record of a solutions‑based approach to problem solving.
* Check understanding of daily briefings and two‑way communication.
* Effective personal and social skills.

Desirable Qualities / Experience
* Experience working on a variety of project types.
* Proficient on O365.
* Current driving licence.
* Holds CSCS and SSSTS or equivalent.
