Job Description
To cater to all members of HideOut Youth Zone and take the lead on running all aspects of an inspiring, healthy, and cost-effective catering provision, including line managing Catering Assistants. The café is an essential part of our offer for young people (aged 8-19 years, up to 25 for those with additional needs), and the canteen area must be a warm and welcoming place for all.
The role involves creating, preparing, and cooking inspiring, innovative, and appealing dishes that are low cost. The post holder must be passionate about local produce, minimizing food waste, have a “can do” attitude, and relate well to young people.
*Although part of an integrated Empower Team, this role will be based at HideOut.*
About EMPOWER
EMPOWER is the charity overseeing the creation, management, and sustainability of Youth Zones in Manchester and Salford. These include HideOut Youth Zone in Gorton, East Manchester, opened in 2020, and Salford Youth Zone in Pendleton, Salford, opening in Spring 2025.
HideOut and Salford Youth Zones provide children and young people aged 8-19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, with a safe space, engaging activities, and trusted support.
EMPOWER is part of the national OnSide Youth Zones network, supporting the development of Youth Zones across the country.
Youth Zones are purpose-built spaces filled with energy and equipped with excellent facilities. They are staffed by skilled Youth Workers dedicated to helping young people achieve their potential, building skills, confidence, and ambition.
This support is life-changing, helping tens of thousands of young people from diverse backgrounds to thrive.
