Role: Back-End Developer Rate: £500-£550 p/d Inside IR35Duration - 12 months Location: Hybrid 2-3 days per week in Corsham Requirements: We are seeking an experienced Back-End Developer to support the design and delivery of a public-facing government website, developed in line with GDS standards. The role focuses on building secure, scalable, and maintainable back-end services that support user-centred digital services.You will work as part of a multidisciplinary agile team, collaborating closely with front-end developers, solution architects, content designers, and delivery leads to deliver high quality outcomes for end users.Key Responsibilities:Design, build, and maintain back-end services to support a public-sector digital platformDevelop and enhance search functionality to ensure performant and user-friendly content discoveryDesign and implement a Single Sign-On (SSO) component, integrating securely with existing identity and access management solutionsEnsure all services meet security, performance, scalability, and accessibility requirementsWork in line with the GDS Service Manual, supporting iterative, user-centred delivery and continuous improvementCollaborate with solution architects and delivery leads to align with agreed technical standards and architectureSupport CI/CD pipelines and operational monitoring to ensure reliable deployment and service performanceWork effectively within a highly regulated / public sector environmentEssential Skills & Experience:Proven back-end development experience within public sector or highly regulated environmentsStrong experience developing back-end services using Node.js (including Express and express-session)Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift for deploymentExperience using Argo CD for GitOps-based continuous deliveryExperience implementing pipelines for continuous integrationStrong understanding of monitoring, logging, and observability, including GrafanaExperience designing and integrating search services and authentication / SSO solutionsExperience working within Agile delivery teamsReasonable Adjustments:Respect and equality are core values to us.
