Brief
We are looking to expand our team and have several opportunities for Employment Associates with 2 to 7 years PQE to join the Employment & Reward Group. We are considering candidates for any of our UK offices.
Background
Our Employment & Reward Group is recognized as one of the best and most experienced teams in the country. We have a well-resourced team of employment specialists, offering national coverage from our UK offices and international services through our specialists in Europe, the Gulf, Asia Pacific, and Australia.
We serve as trusted advisors to leading FTSE blue-chip organizations both in the UK and internationally. Our clients rely on us for technical legal advice and strategic business partnership, understanding sector-specific challenges and opportunities.
We pride ourselves on being confident, commercially aware, pragmatic, and responsive. We provide innovative commercial solutions, helping clients navigate challenges and achieve strategic objectives without employment law hindering workforce management. Our approach fosters long-term relationships with many household-name companies.
Our work involves cutting-edge claims, projects, and transactions for blue-chip corporates and financial institutions, often with an international dimension. We advise on cross-border issues, benefit redesigns, global mobility, and senior employment law matters like recruitment, termination, executive compensation, bonuses, team moves, and enforcement of restrictive covenants.
The team is increasingly engaged in strategic projects such as global change management, reward philosophy, and gender pay gap audits.
As the team aims to grow, this presents an excellent opportunity for Associate lawyers seeking career progression.
The Team
The team serves a diverse clientele, from local and national businesses to international corporations, focusing on business change, corporate deals, and employment litigation.
In the UK, the team comprises over 60 employment lawyers across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Leeds, Birmingham, and London. The successful candidate will be based at our Birmingham office and collaborate with the wider UK team.
The Candidates Required
Ideal candidates will have at least two years of employment law experience in a commercial practice, with strong technical and market knowledge. Experience in strategic employment advice, complex tribunal claims, cross-border issues, restructuring, redundancy, senior grievance handling, discrimination, whistleblowing, and senior executive matters is essential. Experience with high-value and High Court litigation is advantageous. An interest in M&A and outsourcing work is beneficial.
Candidates should have a strong academic background, technical expertise, commercial awareness, and an understanding of large international firm operations. Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and a proactive approach to growth and cross-office initiatives are also important.
