As a company, we live by six core values that guide everything we do: Clear Honest Ambitious Inquisitive Caring Sustainable The Role Head of People Operations at SO ENERGY We are seeking a progressive and experienced Head of People Operations to oversee and continually improve the core infrastructure of our people experience - systems, compliance, processes, data, benefits, and the physical workplace. This is a crucial role within our People team, providing both strategic leadership and hands-on support. You’ll drive the delivery of our values-led, and human-centric culture in an efficient, compliant, tech first way. This role includes leadership of a multidisciplinary team across people operations and facilities and works closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the seamless functioning of People Operations. As the successful candidate, you’ll have strong technical and operational HR skills, a passion for continuous improvement, and a strong understanding of how a great workplace experience contributes to business success. Reporting into our People Director, Laura What you’ll be getting up to: People Operations Lead the development, delivery and continual improvement of People Operations processes, policies and procedures. Maintain high standards of data accuracy and integrity across all systems and records, ensuring full compliance with our legislative and governance requirements. · Partner with Payroll to ensure efficient, end-to-end processes for employee pay and benefits. Ensure robust and legally compliant employment documentation, policies and contracts Systems, Tools and Automation Own the People Operations tech landscape, including HiBob and associated tools, ensuring stability, integration, and relevance to business needs. Lead on the identification, procurement and implementation of any new HR technologies, working closely with IT and relevant stakeholders. Actively seek out opportunities to automate manual tasks, streamline processes, and enhance the employee experience through systems and self-service tools. Drive improvements through better use of integrations and data flows between platforms. Leadership and Team Development Manage and develop a team across people operations, facilities, and suppliers, setting high standards of people leadership and team results Champion a service-led culture from your team to mirror what the business will receive – accurate, responsive, thorough and empathetic. Actively contribute to the People leadership team, bringing insight and perspective that enhances team-wide decision-making. Data and People Insight Maintain and report on key People metrics, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making, identify risks and opportunities, and enhance operational effectiveness. Examples: Regularly track and report on headcount, attrition, time-to-hire, engagement, turnover and possible turnover triggers i.e. performance plans or sickness, provide dashboards for leadership visibility. Partner with the People Director to diagnose people-related challenges and recommend targeted interventions through the use of both reactive and predictive analytics. Examples: Use absence data to identify departments with potential burnout; analyse recruitment and promotion activity against our belonging strategy. Benefits, Policies and Compliance Oversee the evolution and delivery of a competitive, relevant and inclusive benefits offering aligned with our EVP and wellbeing, DEI&B and belonging strategies. Ensure compliance with all legal obligations relating to employment, health and safety, and facilities. Maintain and update employment policies in line with best practice and business requirements. Workplace and Facilities Lead the facilities function, ensuring our offices are safe, compliant, and positive places to work. Oversee service providers, contracts and budgets for facilities and operational suppliers. This role will be a great fit if: Proven experience in leading People Operations in a company of similar size or complexity to us Demonstrable strength in the above areas – ideally including Workplace and Facilities Excellent understanding of UK employment law and its practical application. Strong leadership capability with experience managing high-performing teams. Technically proficient and confident in implementing and integrating new HR tools. Proactive in identifying and implementing efficiencies and delivering a reliable service Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and influence with insight. A clear communicator with a high level of attention to detail and discretion. Ability to spend frequent time (at least 2 days a week) in our Chiswick office – supporting your Facilities colleague and also gaining first hand insight on the experience our colleagues have.
