Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the projects 'clean energy' benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
The main objective of the HVAC Site Manager is to ensure connection between the E2E HVAC Engineering team, Site installation contract HK8010 (MEH JV) and JDO (Engineering entity in charge of site request), particularly on the assessment of the site requests. The main purpose is to ensure the efficient progress of the HVAC systems installation activities on the HK8010 contract (MEH JV). This will be achieved by enabling transfer of knowledge held by E2E Engineer Design and Manufacture teams to MEH JV and ensuring that the production of RFI (Request for Information), FCR (Field Change Requests) and NCR (site Non-Conformance) are sufficient to allow quick treatment and feedback.
Key Responsibilities
To provide an HVAC interface between HVAC E2E Engineering and site area/building leads and assist with the front end HVAC installation activities to ensure a transition through delivery to site and installation and eventually testing and commissioning in accordance with the delivery drawings and specification requirements.
To enable sharing of knowledge and expertise of Design and Manufacture teams in E2E Engineering with MEH JV.
To review the content of the FCR (Field Change Requests) and NCR (site Non-Conformance) issued by the construction team (HK8010 – MEH JV) on the following aspects:
Characterisation: Ensure the description of the FCR/NCR is sufficiently clear to allow proper assessment from NNB/JDO. Ensure the FCR/NCR contains sufficient level of information (root cause, scope impacted, details of the issue…).
Remediation: Review the optioneering and ensure the proposed remediation plan is relevant and achievable. Ensure the FCR/NCR contains a preferred option and confirm this option remains the best for project decision
Delegation: propose the level of delegation to be allocated for the FCR/NCR treatment
Ensure regular connection with the construction team (HK8010 – MEH JV) to establish the following:
Review of FCR/NCR trends (frequency of occurrence, type of issues)
Offer mitigations in advance for potential problems based on the HTL's own experience, as flagged by wider E2E Engineer team and the most frequent occurrences met by the construction team
Education, Experience and Skills:
Proven experience in the nuclear HVAC system or components within multi-disciplinary projects;
Meticulous and rigorous approach to engineering to achieve high professional standards;
Proven ability to successfully deliver engineering safely to the correct quality, time and cost in a fast paced, schedule driven environment;
Strong people leadership skills to coordinate efficient delivery of their scope through empowerment of their team members and drawing on the necessary support from others in the organisation;
Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders;
Ability to work autonomously but with awareness of own limitations;
Knowledge of contractual and commercial mechanisms.
