As part of our ongoing growth and organisational development, we are seeking a dedicated DA Skills Engagement Officerfor the SfL&W, to support our newly awarded Skills for Life and Work (SfL&W) provision. This pivotal role will support the development and delivery of high-quality, impactful skills learning within our new state-of-the-art DA Skills Hub, ensuring it operates as a vibrant centre for skills development both in person and online. You will play a key role in sourcing people to gain chosen vocational, technical and life skills for employment and independent living, making a lasting difference to the lives of the people and communities we support. The successful candidate will report into the DA Skills Delivery Manager. The responsibilities of the DA Skills Engagement Officer (SfL&W), will include: Stakeholder Engagement & Referrals Develop and implement a continuous programme of engagement activities with local schools, Careers Service, youngpeople,andparentstogeneratesuitablereferralsfor the Skills for Life and Work programme Build and maintain a strong network of contacts across community organisations and local businesses to identify appropriateskillsplacementsandprogressionopportunities tailored to learners needs and aspirations Develop and maintain close working relationships with key internal stakeholders and external networks to trial and embed engagement approaches that maximise learner participation and programme profile and impact Promotion & Communications Design,developandshareengagingsocialmediaandwebsite contenttailoredtodifferent audiences, raisingtheprofileof the programme and celebrating learner achievements Deliver targeted promotional campaigns that ensure a steady flow of referrals and increased awareness of the programme within the local community Learner-Centred Approach Plan and deliver engagement activities throughout the year, focusingonmeetingthediverseneedsofyoungpeoplewith disabilities Support learners to set and achieve personal goals and aspirations, ensuring the programme remains inclusive, accessible and outcome-focused Ensure professionalism and confidentiality at all times, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection standards, and in all HR processes and communications Any other duties required to fulfil the requirements of the position Essential Criteria Hold a Level 3 qualification and have a minimum of two years experience in a related support role (teaching, learning support or employability), including at least one year within the last two years Or Have at least three years recent experience in a related support role (teaching, learning support or employability), with a minimum of one year within the last two years Knowledge and experience of the diverse needs of young peoplewithdisabilitiesinskillsand/oremployabilityprovision Knowledge and experience of local community and/or businessengagementtoachievespecificgoalsandoutcomes Knowledgeandexperienceofdevelopingsocialmediaand/or website content and use of appropriate software and tools to engage with different audiences in person and online KnowledgeandprofessionalexperienceofusingvariousIT packages to record and report on activities, in particular MicrosoftOfficeusingWord,Excel,PowerPointandTeams The ability to demonstrate excellent written & oral communication skills including the ability to work with disabled people and others, whilst exhibiting sensitivity, empathy, compassion and understanding Desirable Criteria A relevant third-level qualification, or a recognised accredited qualification in a related area such as Supported Employment, Teaching, Skills, Mentoring, Coaching, or Careers Guidance Knowledgeofprogramsandinitiativesthatsupportyoung people to achieve their career goals and aspirations Awarenessofsocialsecuritybenefitsandtaxcreditsrelevant to young people and their families UnderstandingoftheDisabilityDiscriminationActandother relevant equality and employment legislation Strong commitment to data protection (e.g. GDPR), confidentiality, and professional standards Strongorganisationalskillswithattentiontodetail,including accurate record-keeping and data/document management Abilitytoprioritiseandmanagemultipletaskswhilemeeting deadlines Collaborativeteamplayerwiththeabilitytobuildpositive working relationships Flexibilitytoadapttochangingprioritiesandorganisational needs Work with us What we can offer you: HybridWorking DeathinServicepackage Cashplan InhouseCounsellingservices TrainingandDevelopmentopportunities EnhancedMaternitypackages Commitmenttodiversity,inclusion,andemployeewell-being 27dayspaidholidaysperyearand11bankholidays(Based on a full-time role) Opportunitiesforgrowthinbusinessdevelopment,project implementation, training and development and personal development plans Additional information Disability Action is an equal opportunities employer committed to providing opportunities for all.
