Job Summary
The Head Cook plays a pivotal role in the kitchen, overseeing all aspects of food preparation and culinary operations. This position requires a passionate individual with extensive experience in the culinary field, responsible for creating menus, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and safety. The Head Chef will also be instrumental in maintaining a positive dining experience for guests through exceptional food presentation and flavour.
Duties
* Lead and manage the kitchen team to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
* Develop innovative menus that reflect current food trends while adhering to dietary requirements.
* Oversee food preparation processes, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
* Train and mentor kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food safety practices, and presentation skills.
* Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock.
* Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
* Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during busy periods.
* Handle any customer feedback or complaints regarding food quality or service promptly.
Skills
* Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment.
* Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
* Previous experience in a restaurant setting is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for meal preparation.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with team members and management.
