About the Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will play a crucial part in providing emotional and behavioural support to students who may be struggling to engage with learning due to social, emotional, or mental health challenges. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and families, you will help create tailored strategies that promote positive behaviour, self-regulation, and academic engagement. This role is ideal for someone who is empathetic, proactive, and genuinely passionate about improving outcomes for young people.
Responsibilities
 * Support pupils in managing behavioural and emotional needs effectively.
 * Deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring sessions to help build confidence, motivation, and resilience.
 * Encourage positive attitudes toward learning and help re-engage pupils who may be at risk of disengagement.
 * Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff to develop personalised support plans.
 * Provide consistent encouragement and structure to promote good behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
 * Support pupils with personal care, where necessary, to ensure all needs are met.
 * Maintain accurate records and communicate progress with the wider team.
Qualifications
 * Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs is highly desirable.
 * Strong understanding of emotional regulation, trauma-informed approaches, and behaviour support strategies.
 * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
 * A patient, calm, and compassionate nature with a commitment to inclusion and equality.
 * Must hold the right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
